Gay Boy Found Dead In Brazil with His Underwear stuffed in his Mouth (hate crime?)

                                                                             

The body of a youth was found on the morning of this Wednesday (10/9) in a vacant lot in Inhumas, Goiânia metropolitan region. According to information from the Civil Police, John Anthony Donati, 18, was gay and there is the suspicion that the crime was motivated by homophobia.
The delegate Humberto Theophilus, in charge, told the Online Journal Option to be introduced a survey to ascertain the motives of the murder. According to the family informed the police, John Anthony came out on the morning of Tuesday (9) and would not come home. The young man was found with a broken neck and a mouth full of paper. 

The causes of crime are now being investigated. "We will investigate the case to know if the crime is connected with negative feelings towards gay people," said Humberto Theophilus. 
The Homophobia in Brazil, according to the Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB), is a constant problem. According to statistics compiled by the GGB, a homosexual is killed every 36 hours in the country and about 70% of the murders of LGBT people go unpunished. Another figure catches attention, seven in ten Brazilian homosexuals have suffered some type of aggression, whether physical or verbal.

De acordo com informações da Polícia Civil, João Antônio Donati, de 18 anos, era homossexual e há a suspeita de que o crime tenha sido motivado por homofobia.

O delegado Humberto Teófilo, responsável pelo caso, informou ao Jornal Opção Online que será instaurado um inquérito para apurar as motivações do homicídio. Segundo a família informou aos policiais, João Antônio saiu na manhã da terça-feira (9) e não teria mais voltado para casa. O jovem foi encontrado com o pescoço quebrado e a boca cheia de papel.

As causas do crime já estão sendo investigadas. “Vamos averiguar o caso para sabermos se o crime tem ligação com sentimentos negativos em relação a pessoas homossexuais”, disse Humberto Teófilo.

Segundo estatísticas compiladas pelo GGB, um homossexual é morto a cada 36 horas no País e cerca de 70% dos casos de assassinatos de pessoas LGBT ficam impunes. Outro dado chama à atenção, sete em cada dez homossexuais brasileiros já sofreram algum tipo de agressão, seja física ou verbal.
