Putin in Russia Seems to be bringing The Old KGB Days } Make up a Story, Jail his Detractors

Accelerating the Kremlin’s campaign against the country’s fledgling opposition, Russian investigators charged the blogger and anticorruption activist Aleksei Navalny on Tuesday with embezzlement, a crime that carries a sentence of up to 10 years. A previous case against him based on the same events was closed this spring in Kirov by prosecutors who said they had not found evidence of wrongdoing.

If the case progresses to an arrest or a sentence, it will signal a shift in strategy by President Vladimir V. Putin. For the 12 years he has served as Russia’s paramount leader, he has mainly refrained from criminal prosecutions of activist leaders, instead sidelining them with softer methods like short-term detentions and limited access to mass media. But some commentators say they expect to see more criminal cases brought against activists.
“A political decision has been made, though I don’t know for how long,” said Gleb Pavlovsky, a former Kremlin political consultant. “Maybe the people who made this decision think it is a short period of intimidation, which will be followed by a return to more velvet methods. But now there is a regime in which, given a range of choices, they are selecting the harshest.
“The system is informing us that it is changing the rules,” he said.
Mr. Navalny, 36, rose to prominence as a protest leader in large part because of his popular blog and Twitter feed, which he has used to report corruption and inside dealing by Kremlin officials. Since 2010, he has faced the possibility of criminal charges related to a state-owned timber company called KirovLes, but the charges announced Tuesday were significantly more severe.
The State Investigative Committee on Tuesday accused Mr. Navalny, acting as an adviser to the governor of the Kirov region, of organizing a scheme to steal timber from KirovLes, resulting in losses of $500,000 to the regional budget. He has denied any wrongdoing, and he sounded surprised after meeting with investigators on Tuesday.
“What has happened is absolutely absurd and very strange, because they have completely changed the story behind the charge,” Mr. Navalny said. “I cannot imagine how they will find a way to prove it. But they will, I guess.”

BedBreakfast } God Invented AIDS to Punish Homosexuals

his post, seemly by WhiteBriar Bed & Breakfast owner Carole Moore, has ignited a firestorm on Facebook.
By QMI Agency
Two weeks after a Canadian bed and breakfast was fined for refusing to accommodate a gay couple, a B&B south of the border is making headlines for posting onFacebook that God invented AIDS to punish homosexuals.
The Whitebriar Bed & Breakfast in Edgewater Park, N.J., penned the controversial post in response to a lesbian mom complaining about an anti-gay-marriage sign on the B&B's lawn.
Joanne Fraschilla had planned to bring her son to the B&B's petting zoo, but changed her mind when she saw a sign on the front lawn proclaiming "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," on Aug. 1, with the words "Marriage one man, one woman, one God."
Chick-fil-A is an American fried chicken restaurant chain that's been in the spotlight in recent weeks after its CEO publicly denounced gay marriage.
"This is somewhere my son loves to pass by and we have been excited to visit. Not anymore. I'm sad to see a local business anti LGBT marriage," Fraschilla wrote on the B&B's Facebook page Sunday night.
The B&B, owned by Carole and Bill Moore, replied: "Isn't it wonderful Joanne Fraschilla, that you and your son can enjoy the animals here because I have a traditional marriage with a husband who works with me 90 hours a week to take care of these animals, and the summer camp."

"we're 66-68 years old...there were no gays or queers in our time...if two old ladies chose to live together..so be it, let them deal with God when they get there...but to have the "face sucking" thrown in my face of two gay lesbians who are totally destroying the "normal balance in a child's life" as you claim your son (sic)"
The post goes on to imply Fraschilla's son would turn out to be gay "because he didn't have a father as a role model."
"I'll pray for you...remember what the bible says: "Lay down with dogs, get up with fleas...guess that's why God invented aids...(sic)"
The post, seemingly written by Carole Moore, concludes that the B&B will remain staunchly and proudly pro-traditional marriage.
In subsequent Facebook posts, she admits to writing the post and denied it was the work of hackers. QMI Agency has contacted the Moores for comment.
The post set off a storm of responses — some supportive of the B&B and some condemning it.
This controversy comes on the heels of a B.C. Human Rights Tribunal ruling that Les and Susan Molnar discriminated against a gay couple by refusing to let them stay in their B&B in Grand Forks.
The Riverbend B&B owners were fined $4,500. They shut down the business soon after receiving the complaint and don't plan to reopen.

Cheney Supported Gay Marriage? Did Not Even Attend His Daughters'

Cheney did not attend his daughter’s wedding

You know what they say about actions speaking louder than words.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney was part of an administration  that supported the Federal Marriage Amendment, a proposed amendment to the US Constitution that would have limited marriage to heterosexual couples.
Then on 2009, one year after leaving office, Cheney comes out in favor of same-sex marriage.
He happens to have a daughter who is a lesbian.
That daughter, Mary Cheney, married her longtime partner, Heather Poe, in Washington DC last month.
Mary let the world know via Facebook post.
What we did not know until today was that her parents were not at the wedding.
During an interview made public today, ABC News asked Dick Cheney how his daughter’s wedding was.
‘I’m sure it was fine,’ Cheney said. ‘We wished them well.  She wanted to avoid having it be a media circus or having it become part of the political debate. And so Lynn and I were very proud and happy and congratulated them.  They’ve been an important part of the family for a long time.  Provided us with two of our seven grandkids.’

Romney Ends mini World Tour With a Shove it!

US presidential candidate Mitt Romney wrapped up his overseas tour in Poland, as frustrations between his campaign and journalists boiled over.
In a foreign policy speech in Warsaw, the former Massachusetts governor praised Poland's economy as a model of small government and free enterprise.
But it was a Romney spokesman who captured headlines by lashing out at US reporters asking questions.
The Republican is set to challenge President Obama in November's polls.
On Tuesday, Mr Romney's travelling press secretary, Rick Gorka, lost his cool with reporters who tried to question the candidate after he visited Warsaw's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
'Shove it'
Mr Gorka said: "Kiss my ass. This is a holy site for the Polish people."
At a public plaza near the memorial, journalists from CNN, the New York Times and Washington Post asked Mr Romney about "mishaps" and "gaffes" on his trip.
He then told a reporter from Politico to "shove it". The press secretary apologised soon afterwards to correspondents.
Mr Romney later told Fox News that journalists had been more interested in "finding something to write about" other than reporting on the economy and national security threats.
But US media have been complaining that Mr Romney only took three press questions - outside Downing Street in London - during the entirety of his six-day trip.
Mr Romney's tour of the UK, Israel and Poland was intended to burnish his profile globally, but it has been overshadowed by media reports of his perceived missteps.
At the weekend, he declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel, even though US policy holds that the city's designation is a matter for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
He was also accused of racism after he told an audience of Jewish donors that cultural differences explained why Israel's economy was much larger than that of the Palestinians.
And he was excoriated by the British media on the first leg of his tour in London, when he questioned the country's readiness to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
Swipe at Obama?
Following the press secretary's outburst on Tuesday, Mr Romney delivered a set-piece speech.
He praised Poland's efforts since the fall of communism to embrace small government and a market economy - the same formula he says is needed to revive sluggish US growth.
He said Poland had spurned the "false promise" of a government-dominated economy, remarks that correspondents said were aimed at President Obama and his Democratic allies.
Speaking in the library of Warsaw University, Mr Romney said: "The world should pay close attention to the transformation of Poland's economy.
"A march toward economic liberty and smaller government has meant a march toward higher living standards, a strong military that defends liberty at home and abroad, and an important and growing role on the international stage."
Analysts say Mr Romney's two-day trip to Poland was designed to attract Polish-American and Catholic voters in the US.
It was also seen as a way of highlighting his hawkish stance toward Russia, whom he once labelled America's "number one geopolitical foe".
Taking a swipe at Poland's neighbour on Tuesday, Mr Romney said: "In Russia, once-promising advances toward a free and open society have faltered."
The Republican also praised the Polish trade union movement, Solidarity, which helped topple communist rule.
But Solidarity distanced itself from Mr Romney on Monday, saying he had supported attacks on unions in his own country.

Beautiful Michael Phelps Breaks World Record } Medal Count All Nations

USA
Four years after he climbed to the top of Olympic achievement, Michael Phelps took the last step he needed to reach the absolute peak.
The greatest swimmer of all time became the most decorated Olympian of all time when he won a record 19th Olympic medal at the London Games on Tuesday.
With a little help from his American friends, Phelps won his first gold medal in London in the 4x200 metres freestyle less than an hour after a shock defeat in the 200 butterfly, an event he has dominated for over a decade.
The record Phelps broke was held by Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina, who won the last of her 18 Olympic medal at Tokyo in 1964.
Michael Phelps makes history with 19th Olympic medal
His team mates threw their arms around him and the crowd at London's Aquatic Centre rose to their feet to witness the coronation of the Olympic king.

Until Phelps surfaced, no-one had come close to breaking her record in almost half a century but now the torch has been passed to the 27-year-old from Baltimore.
"I would have liked a better outcome in the 200 fly. Obviously it was my last one and I would have liked to win but...it wasn't a terrible time," Phelps said.
"I thank those guys for helping me get to this moment ... I just wanted to hold on. I thank them for allowing me this moment.”

China
While Phelps stood alone at the summit and surveyed everything below him, Chinese teenage sensation Ye Shiwen continued her rapid rise by winning the 200 individual medley.
The 16-year-old followed up her jaw-dropping win in the 400 medley three days earlier with another amazing impressive display of power and perfect technique.
She was in third place when she turned for home after the breaststroke leg but overhauled her rivals on the final freestyle lap to complete the multi-discipline event in 2:07.57.
Australia & South Africa
The victory, ahead of Australia's Alicia Coutts and American Caitlin Leverenz, capped a tumultuous day for the teenager.
Despite winning the world title last year, millions of people around the globe are watching her compete for the first time and she was the subject of intense scrutiny on Tuesday after an American swimming coach made thinly-veiled accusations of doping, which prompted an angry response by Chinese officials.
Allison Schmitt, who trains in Baltimore with Phelps, turned the tables on Camille Muffat to win the women's 200 freestyle gold.
Schmitt finished second to the Frenchwoman in Saturday's 400 final but led all the way to win the four-lap race in 1:53.61. Muffat was second and Australia's Bronte Barratt third, a fingernail in front of Colorado teenager Missy Franklin.
Compared to Beijing, where he won an unprecedented eight golds, and Athens where he won six golds and two bronzes, Phelps has struggled in London, winning just one silver medal from the first three days of competition.
He was just warming up but then He got Hot
Things got even worse when he suffered a shock defeat to South Africa's Chad le Clos in the 200 butterfly final after messing up his touch.
Bidding to became the first male swimmer to win the same individual event at three Olympics, Phelps led all the way but misjudged his final stroke, allowing le Clos to get his hands on the wall first in a time of one minute, 52.96 seconds.
"I just wanted to race Phelps in the final and I've beaten him. I can't believe it," said le Clos. "Phelps is my hero and I love the guy."
Phelps was unable to hide his disappointment, throwing his goggles into the water then storming past waiting media but managed to regain his composure in time for the relay.
The result was never in doubt after Ryan Lochte gave them a big lead after the opening leg.
Conor Dwyer and Ricky Berens kept the Americans in front, allowing Phelps to bring them home on the anchor leg ahead of France and China and the crowd to their feet.
