Obama Against Same Sex Marriage
Yes, the President that Many in the LGTB community supported and voted into office, is against Same Sex Marriage. He will demostrate this in a more "Mean Spirited" way, to quote him on this subject, when it comes to the court of appeals and he makes the argument that will make many of us sick. Just like He( through the office of Attorney General) defended DADT policy in court, And I think you must remember how sickening it was. If that happens it will come to the Supremes and he again will have to defend the anti same sex status quo.
I just hope that Judge Walker does not issue a permanent stay on his ruling and we are able to get thousands of couples getting marriage in California before anything else has a chance to work it self though the higher courts. That will make it even harder for this president to defend his anti same sex marriage stance. Had the LGTB community would have gone for Hillary Clinton, things would look even better now. But that is water under the bridge now. The reason I bring it up is to again point out, that we as a community should not back someone or anyone who opposes same sex marriage. That should be clear by now.
Huffington reports:
"Judging by the White House statement after a federal judge struck down California's Proposition 8 on Wednesday, you might think President Obamasupports the rights of gays to marry.
The president "has spoken out in opposition to Proposition 8 because it is divisive and discriminatory. He will continue to promote equality for LGBT Americans," the White House said.
But Obama does not endorse gay marriage. As a candidate for president, he consistently said marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman.
"I believe that marriage is between a man and woman and I am not in favor of gay marriage," the candidate said just days before the election in 2008"
