The Not So Message Friendly Skies

Flying the Not So Message Friendly Skies
If I admitted that I found just a slight bit of humor in this I wouldn’t feel too good about myself, so I won’t.  But according to reports, British Airways found themselves apologizing to passengers aboard a flight on Tuesday after they were informed by an  emergency message system that they jet was about to crash, which was a false alarm.
Approximately 270 passengers were on the flight from London to Hong Kong flight when the jet’s automated message system informed them they were going to crash as they were flying over the North Sea.
The flights crew was reported quick to respond and did their best to reassure passengers it was nothing more than a false alarm.
One passenger was reported saying: “I can’t think of anything worse than being told your plane’s about to crash.”
Perhaps actually crashing would be worse?
Anyway, a British Airways spokesperson has confirmed that an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the false alarm and stated:
“We apologize to passengers on board the flight for causing them undue distress.  Our cabin crew immediately made an announcement following the message advising customers that it was an error and that the flight would continue as normal.”
Continue as normal?  I would be making sure the drink cart made it’s way down the aisle…for free!
