Can’t wait to get that next Dolce & Gabbana outfit or luxury accessory? You may want to think again. Following an interview with Italy’s Panorama magazine in which Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana declared, “The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,” LGBT news Italia is calling for a boycott of the iconic brand.
“This attack towards the LGBT comunity differs in no way from the one that started the campaign to boycott Barilla, ” states lgbtnewsitalia.com. ‘We therefore invite you all to join the campaign launched by LGBT news Italia to boycott the D&G brand #BoycottDolceGabbana.”
Dolce & Gabbana are no strangers to controversy. The company has had to pull ads in both Britain and Spain for their controversial content. In Britain the Advertising Standards Authority in 2007 criticized the company  for an advertising campaign showing models brandishing knives. In the same year Spanish authorities complained about a Dolce & Gabbana ad that showed a man holding a woman to the ground by her wrists while other men looked on. The company pulled the ad.
Dolce & Gabbana have also faced tax evasion charges in Italy which began in 2009 when they moved some 249 million Euros in assets out of Italy into Luxembourg. The pair were finally cleared of tax evasion by the Italian Court of Justice in October 2014.
