This Wrestler Scholarship Revoked After Cal Poly Saw This Anti Gay Video

                                       




Cal Poly is faced with another controversy, this time with one of its wrestlers who is no longer on the team after he was recorded yelling an anti-gay slur.

Bronson Harmon lost his athletic scholarship and will no longer wrestle for the Cal Poly Mustangs after the video went viral.

The college is remaining tight-lipped on the situation.

Harmon shouted a slur and made an obscene gesture at the person recording the video during a "Keeping Families Together" rally June 30 in Modesto. He was seen holding a Trump 2016 poster.

Cal Poly noted Harmon was an accomplished wrestler who compiled a 35-7 record as a junior at Oakdale. He graduated this past May.

The university's administration, which canceled an interview with KSBY on Wednesday afternoon, provided a statement Wednesday evening:

Bronson Harmon will not be a member of Cal Poly’s wrestling team but we cannot comment on any details regarding his status as a student because of federal and state privacy laws. We cannot speak to his scholarship or his status as a student specifically; however, a scholarship can be any amount up to the full cost of tuition, fees, room, board and books. Harmon signed a National Letter of Intent to Cal Poly last November.

An athletics official confirmed Harmon's scholarship offer was revoked. 

The college's code of conduct forbids student-athletes from posting offensive or inappropriate material to their social media.

The video has amassed more than 38,000 views with hundreds of comments, including some defending Harmon.

This comes on the heels of several incidents that have put Cal Poly in the spotlight from students' actions that created unrest among the student body.

Harmon has not responded to our request for comment.

Meanwhile, the man who recorded the video says he has received death threats.
