Chester Bennington's House Was Clean of any Drugs
Chester Bennington’s house was reportedly free of drugs at the time of his death.
Linkin Park frontman Chester took his own life last Thursday at the age of 41.
TMZ are reporting that there were no illegal drugs or prescription drugs found at the house in Palos Verdes Estates, California, where Chester died, according to police sources.
Law enforcement that searched the property following the singer’s suicide found no obvious evidence of drug use at the home.
Toxicology results have yet to be completed, so it is unknown as yet whether there were any drugs in Chester’s system at the time of his suicide.
The rock star previously struggled with drug addiction, admitting to taking acid, meth, crack and marijuana.
A partially drunk bottle of alcohol was found in the bedroom where Chester’s body was found.
Chester’s housekeeper found his body, with his driver calling the ambulance. The harrowing 911 call of his conversation with emergency services was released this week.
Bennington had spoken at length about his addiction demons, which stemmed from sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of an older friend from when he was just seven years old.
His Linkin Park bandmates staged an intervention for him in 1996, with Chester telling Metal Hammer: ‘I had a choice between stopping drinking or dying.’
Linkin Park issued a statement this week, writing: ‘Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened. You touched so many lives, maybe even more than you realized. In the past few days, we’ve seen an outpouring of love and support, both public and private, from around the world. Talinda and the family appreciate it, and want the world to know that you were the best husband, son, and father; the family will never be whole without you.’
The band have cancelled the remainder of their world tour in light of the tragedy.
Chester is survived by his six children and his wife Talinda.
