On Eve of Supreme: Hillary Releases Vid of her Come Around on Gay Marriage
On the eve of a Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage throughout the United States, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has fully come around on the issue.
Early Wednesday, her campaign released a 2½ minute video titled Equal, depicting the weddings of several diverse same-sex couples and in which Clinton ends by saying, “Gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights.”
“Stand with LGBT families,” reads the final slide.
Clinton has publicly changed her view on gay marriage since 1996 when her husband, then-President Bill Clinton, signed the federal Defense of Marriage Act — the law that the Supreme Court partially declared unconstitutional in the 2013 Edie Windsor case against the IRS.
