According to a report from NBC News, Boy Scouts in uniform marched in the Utah Gay Pride parade Sunday in defiance of a policy that prohibits them from taking political positions while dressed in Boy Scouts regalia. The Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the single largest chartering organization of Boy Scouts nationwide. A spokesman for the Mormon church wrote for On Faith last week that the church welcomes the inclusion of gay members, but affirms the prohibition on “sexual conduct” for scouts.
