If Angelina Jolie Says Daughter Shiloh 'Wants To Be a Boy,' Can the Tabloids?
When Life & Style ran a cover story about Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Brad and Angelina, the stylist quoted in the story says her comments about the girl's gender identity were "taken completely out of context." But now Angelina says her daughter wants to be a boy?
The magazine quoted Astylist Alana Kelen: "Shiloh is pushing the boundaries of a tomboy look and crossing over to cross-dresser territory." In the ensuing aftermath, Kelen insisted the magazine would "use me often for style quotes, so I had no idea they would twist my words, and they always contact me for final approval, which they did not do this time around. … My career has been all about personal expression through clothing, and I am the biggest believer that any person should wear anything they choose, regardless of age or sex." (The magazine held its ground.)
But Angelina appears to have let her off the hook.
In her new Vanity Fair cover story, the actress says her four-year-old dresses "like a little dude. Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style. It's how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes (regular) suits. She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers."
Say what you will about Angelina, but not only is she comfortable enough to let her daughter dress like whatever gender she likes, but she's got no problem speaking about it opening, de-stigmatizing the whole situation.
