Time to Think OUTside the LGBT Box!
There’s a post on WCCO from Minneapolis about a court case where a judge has ruled that a born again Christian can NOT be barred from handing out Bibles during a gay pride event being held in a public park.
According to the post:
The judge ruled that the 42-acre park is a public forum, so Johnson’s free-speech rights must be honored. Tunheim said Johnson is entitled to go ahead with his plans as long as he remains undisruptive.
“We’re disappointed by the decision but we’ll follow it and we’d like to thank Judge Tunheim for deciding the order so quickly, and we’re looking forward to Pride,” said Amy Slusser, an attorney for the organizing committee.
Personally, I don’t see the harm in this and I’m not sure why it even went to court, but what I do see is an opportunity. Why not turn this around? I think the LGBT community needs to become more pro-active and play offense for a change and start attending faith based events in public places and passing out literature about the discrimination, oppression, bigotry and hate the LGBT community faces!
Like this post on the Orange County Register:
Local members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community are planning to protest religious activists’ efforts to cure people from homosexuality this weekend.
Seize the opportunity.
