British Team Captain Dai Greene In Trouble Over Gay Slur

Trouble: Captain Dai GreeneDai Greene, the British athletics team captain for London 2012, is to be investigated by Britain's Olympic bosses after using language on Twitter that could be construed as homophobic.
The British Olympic Association are looking into Greene's choice of language.
Greene, the 400m hurdles world champion who has 22,500 followers on Twitter, used the word 'gayest' in an exchange with fellow runner Martyn Rooney before apparently realising his error and hastily deleting the post.

BOA communications chief Darryl Seibel said: 'We do not condone the use of language that could be seen as offensive or derogatory. We expect more from members of Team GB, particularly an athlete who has been chosen as captain of his squad. We will be reminding all Team GB members of the importance of using appropriate language in forums such as Twitter.
'Dai is a world-class athlete and we know he will do a great job representing Team GB this summer.'
Greene's tweet appeared to fall short of standards spelled out to the 542-strong British team in a charter drawn up by Sir Clive Woodward, the BOA director of sport.
Woodward's 15 'bare minimum standards' for members of Team GB include 'responsible' use of social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
