Luiz da Silva Neto was jailed for 22 years. |
A JAIL sentence of 22 years has been given to Luiz da Silva Neto who was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting two men in a Middle Barton cottage.
The defendant, of Wandsworth, was sentenced today (07) at Oxford Crown Court after a 12-strong jury found him guilty following a two-and-half-week trial last month.
The 36-year-old, who worked for a London floristry business and helped his partner rent out the Oxfordshire cottage to paying guests, was sentenced for rape, administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower, causing or inciting another to engage in sexual activity without consent and possession of a ‘party bag’ of illegal drugs.
Delivering the sentence, Judge Michael Gledhill said: “You were quite happy to have sex with as many men as you could get whether they were willing to have sex with you or not.
“You were more than happy to have sex with men who you know were heterosexual and why you were happy to do that I’m not going to speculate.
“The sentence is going to be substantial as they are very serious offenses.”
For the rape of the second victim, a married company director da Silva Neto drove home from London to his Oxfordshire cottage on December 10, 2021, after a night of drinking, and he was given a 12-year prison sentence.
He was also given an eight-year sentence to run concurrently for the sexual abuse of the victim as well as a six-year concurrent sentence for administering stupefying drugs.
The defendant was previously cleared of kidnapping him from Chelsea’s Kings Road, where the victim had been drinking with colleagues, and committing the kidnap with intent to commit another offense.
DETECTIVES fear ‘sexual predator’ Luiz da Silva Neto may have assaulted other victims.
The 36-year-old was found guilty at Oxford Crown Court this week of drugging two men with an 'unknown substance' - although possibly 'date rape drug' GHB - and sexually assaulting them in separate incidents at the chocolate box cottage in Middle Barton he ran as a holiday let.
DI James Holden-White told the Oxford Mail: “We’re still actively investigating his activities. I think it’s entirely possible there are further victims of his offending and I would encourage them to have the confidence and make themselves known to us.” For the sexual abuse of the first victim, who on November 10, 2021, had traveled to the cottage in order to carry out some DIY work, the defendant received a 10-year consecutive sentence.
A six-year sentence will run concurrently for administering stupefying drugs.
He will have to serve a minimum of two-thirds of the 22-year sentence.
Judge Gledhill concluded: “You’re a young man from Brazil and you came here for good reasons. After you finished your education, you decided you were going to straight use recreational drugs.
“If anyone wants to know what the effects these sorts of drugs, that you were taking for your own pleasure, have all they have to do is look at the facts of this case.
“You say you were very deep into [drugs] that you behaved in a way you wouldn’t usually behave and I believe that.

“But you chose to take these drugs and you did precious little about it and you became a sexual predator.”
