The End of Te’o Hoax and Mr.Phil (Not a Medical or Psyc Dr.)

The intense conclusion to Ronaiah Tuiasosopo’s interview with Dr. Phil aired yesterday and while even the host ended the show with telling the viewers that it was up to them to believe the hoaxer’s sincerity, what was actually said and done was pretty crazed.
In the hour-long closer:
- Ronaiah revealed that he had been molested and raped for years, beginning at age 12, at the hands of a family friend; a pastor and youth minister: ‘I felt that I couldn’t do things, accomplish things, pursue things, live out as Ronaiah,” Tuiasosopo said. ”And I felt the need to create this (the “Lennay” character). It has everything to do with what I went through as a child.” It was also explained that it has been his only sexual experiences — hence the confusion about being gay from part 1.
- he never told his parents, especially his father — because he thought he’d lose him again (his dad, Titus expressed that because of his career (oddly enough, as a football player), he was out of his child’s life for many of his early years).
- his parents were asked straight out how they would react with their child was actuallygay: “He is still my son, and we love him unconditionally,” his father said.
But the craziest revelation? Oh, you gotta head after the jump for that — because it’s still blowing my mind a day later!
So of course, the main question was who was the actual voice behind “Lennay”; the one who had managed to convince Manti Te’o of “her” existence.
Many believed it could’ve been a cousin of Roniah’s… but through a “recreation” of some voice mails and some high-tech investigative work, it turned out it was actually Ronaiah himself.
All the laboratories reported that Tuiasosopo’s false voice matched Kekua’s. (His normal speaking voice did not.) One lab reported that Tuiasosopo was “a true talent,” presenting vocal skills they’d not seen before.
When asked if he felt sorry, Ronaiah claimed that he did so “everyday” and asked for forgiveness.
Well, if that doesn’t work out, he could always do voice work!
