One Word Trade Center is Here


Forty years and a month after the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers opened, nearly 12 years after they fell, workers permanently installed the spire atop 1 World Trade Center. The building now stands at a symbolic 1,776 feet, the tallest in the Western Hemisphere. Anne Thompson took the shot of the day:

We’ve come a long way since workers poured the first concrete poured into the foundation of the World Trade Center in September 1966.
