Six Cops fired For Lying on TheAtlanta Eagle Humiliating Raid

Two years ago, police raided an Atlanta gay bar called the Atlanta Eagle and humiliated patrons, making them lie on the floor and peppering them with anti-gay slurs.
Well, after an investigation, six of the cops were fired for lying about what happened that night, nine others have been disciplined, and three others will be reviewed.

The horror of ritualized homophobia is still out there, foilks--even in law enforcement, which is supposed to protect innocent citizens, not randomly degrade them.
You'll also remember that more recently, on the night that gay marriage was announced in New York State--on the Friday of Gay Pride weekend--cops decided to raid New York's Eagle and make people feel like criminals!
Sometimes it feels as if Stonewall never happened at all.
