Now Pro Gay Rights NJSen Pres about His Gov: ‘I Wanted To Punch Him In The Head’
Chris Christie may be a darling to many in the Republican Party and beyond, but back home in Jersey, well, the fight over the governor’s budget has caused some hurt feelings. “This is all about him being a bully and a punk,” New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney told the Star-Ledger. “I wanted to punch him in his head.” Oh, and it gets worse.
As the Star-Ledger’s Tom Moran reports, Sweeney, a Democrat, felt betrayed after risking “his political neck to support the governor’s pension and health reform, and his reward was a slap across the face” in the form of a line-item veto of the state budget–a move that could lead to a big breakdown in bipartisanship in Trenton. “Last night I couldn’t calm down,” Sweeney said. “To prove a point to me — a guy who has stood side by side with him, and made tough decisions — for him to punish people to prove his political point? He’s just a rotten bastard to do what he did.”
Oh, and it even gets worse. Describing the governor as a guy who bulldozed legislators who were trying to be flexible, Sweeney compared Christie to a “bank robber taking hostages…shooting people” and Mr. Potter from It’s a Wonderful Life: “the mean old bastard who screws everybody.” And also, he says of Christie “he’s a rotten prick.”
