Gay Demonstrators Will Hold Rally Outside Buckingham Palace

LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 17: Recently publis...
Peter Tatchell is a name synonymous with the struggle for gay rights. He has organised a rally outside Buckingham Palace on Monday calling for gays to be allowed to marry.
Campaigners will attempt to hand deliver a card to Prince William and Kate Middleton asking them to support marriage equality.
The Equal Love campaign stress that the gathering is neither a celebration of monarchy nor a protest against the wedding but rather a means of highlighting the discriminatory nature of UK marriage laws. They will hold a ‘celebration’ in front of Buckingham Palace from noon until 2pm.
Mr Tatchell said: ‘ Our event will urge the royal couple to support moves to end the ban on gay marriages. We want equal marriage rights for all couples, regardless of sexual orientation. It is our hope that they might be the first royal couple to express support for marriage equality.
William and Kate are a modern young couple. I am sure they have gay friends and would not wish to see them discriminated against.’
