Facebook Co-Founder Chris Hughes Engaged to Gay Rights Advocate Sean Eldridge

Twenty-seven year-old Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes - who's been dubbed "the kid who made Obama president" for organizing Obama's social networking site,My.BarackObama.com, during the 2008 campaign - is planning to marry his long-term boyfriend, Sean Eldridge. Hughes, an entrepreneur who recently launched Jumo, was Mark Zuckerberg's roommate in college, and he served as Facebook's spokesman. His fiance, Eldridge, is the political director for Freedom To Marry. The two announced the engagement last week to guests including Christine Quinn, Cory Booker, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner, at a reception in support of Freedom To Marry inside their Soho loft. Adorable engagement story, too:The handsome Chris Hughes.

Chris Hughes Engaged Sean Eldridge

The two decided to make their five year relationship legal on New Year's Eve. "We were in Thailand in a hotel room in the north. We were delayed after two days in the snowstorm and Chris got down on one knee and proposed. It was very traditional and very sweet," Eldridge said.
President Obama once called Hughes "my Internet man," prompting Hughes' mother to cry, and the tech genius attended a state dinner at the White House with his fiance last year. They have yet to set a date, and Eldridge said they'll try to wait until gay marriage is legal in New York. So if the president showed up to a gay wedding in New York at which Mark Zuckerberg served as the best man ... Wow. That would be an awesome wedding.
