Gay sentenced to five years in prison and 500 lashes in Saudi Arabia

  

According to Saudi newspaper Okaz, a young gay man in that country has just been sentenced to 500 lashes and five years in prison for having sex with other men and publish photos "obscene" him on the Internet.

A court in the city of Jeddah found the 27-year old perpetrator of "indecent, against Islamic teachings." In particular, homosexual relations and post photos on the internet and mobile phones which appeared wearing women's underwear. Apparently the offender (which also have to pay a fine of 50,000 rials Saudis, nearly 10,000 euros) was discovered in full activity "obscene" by members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the largest police group feared in the country. Had already been tried and sentenced for posing as a security guard and was charged with indecent acts practiced in prison.

Unfortunately, such sentences are not uncommon in Saudi Arabia, a country that in fact homosexual relationships are brutally persecuted and may be punishable by death by stoning.
