Jim Carrey, Star Of 'Phillip Morris,' Ribs David Letterman Over Gay Concerns

Actor Jim Carrey has poked fun at David Letterman for his concern over
 a straight man playing a gay role.
The 48-year-old Carrey stars opposite Ewan McGregor in the upcoming 
gay-themed film I Love You Phillip Morrisslated for release in the
In the film, Carrey plays Steven Russell, a gay man who falls in love with 
his cellmate Phillip Morris, played by McGregor.
In an appearance on CBS' the Late Show with David Letterman, Letterman expresses concern for Carrey's professional reputation.
After praising the film, Letterman asks his guest: “Do you worry about your
 image as a heterosexual leading man playing a homosexual?”
“Boy, we haven't grown at all, have we?” Carrey responds. “We're still
 children in the schoolyard.”
“Honestly, no offense Dave, but have you ever seen a gay man?” he asks.
Letterman shook off the heckling and said he was only asking “what seems
 like a fairly routine question.”
“Well, I think it's OK,” Carrey finally answers. “Whatever people want to do, 
it doesn't matter to me.”
