Cindy, Meghan McCain At Odds With John McCain Over DADT Repeal, Gay Rights

It's the McCain women versus John McCain over gay rights and repeal 

of the military's ban on open gay service.

The Arizona Senator and ranking Republican on the Senate Armed 

Services Committee has aggressively fought against legislative repeal 

of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell,” the 17-year-old law that has ended the military 

careers of over 13,000 gay and bisexual service members.

In a new video released Thursday, Cindy McCain deals a blow to her

 husband when she says that the military policy sends gay teens a

 troubling message of discrimination.

“Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no

 future,” McCain says in the video. (The video is embedded in the right

In a second video, also released on Thursday, McCain's daughter

 Meghan McCain is featured saying that she supports efforts to get

 troubled gay teens considering suicide the help they need.

In September, John McCain successfully led Republicans in blocking

 passage of a defense bill that included language that would have 

repealed the gay ban, and he has pledged to filibuster the measure a 

second time if Majority Leader Harry Reid puts the bill up for a second 

vote during the lame-duck session of Congress that begins Monday.
