Finally Ukraine Feels Confident Enough to Confirm the Arrival of F16
Ukraine
Ukraine confirmed that F-16 fighter jets have arrived in the country for the first time since Russia's invasion began. The delivery marks "a new chapter" for the country's Air Force, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday, as strained Ukrainian forces work to protect its skies against Russian missiles. Zelensky said he is grateful to partners, and especially to the first countries that accepted Kyiv's request for the aircraft. "I thank Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United States. And to all our partners — we appreciate your support," he said. Russia maintains air superiority over Ukraine but experts say the F-16s offer a significant improvement in Kyiv's weaponry. I understand the first Shipment is a squadron of 10 according to a Ukranian spokesperson. 10 is nothing to sneeze at particularly if the pilots are well trained and all indications say they are. These 10 will slowly start patrolling the skies in safe areas but eventually, they are not going to stay there. One thing is for sure, where they are there will be no Russian Migs. What we need now is to put another couple of squadrons and I hear the next one will be over double of what they got. These F16 Ukranian pilots will also help to train new pilots who now fly the old migs. It makes it so much easier for new pilots to learn the F16 right there where they are kept instead of going abroad. So this will be a combination school. We already know that Ukraine has good defenses in the capital having thwarted an 80+ missile and missile attack. Not one made it through Kyiev. |
