Simple Explanation of The Law to Protect Same Sex_and Interracial Unions

Notably, the bill does not force all 50 states to perform same-sex marriages but does require states to recognize ceremonies performed in other jurisdictions where the process is legal
Senator Schumer (leader of the senate) and Nancy Pelosi (speaker of the House)

This bill is nothing like the one Passed by the Supreme Court a decade or so ago. I will give examples so everyone can understand.

First, we are going to assume that the Supreme Court will continue its divisive anti-democratic streak. SupremeS reverse the Obergefell decision. No more federal same-sex marriage law.

1. You are in love in Indiana but the legislature passed a law making same-sex marriage illegal. So you can't get married there but you could go to another state whose legislature has passed same-sex marriage. You can get married there and come back to your home in Indiana and the government there has to honor it because you have a federal law that makes them do it (The law just passed).

Repeat example:

2. You get married in New York and are married there but your hubby is from Arizona and his parents left him a property there if he moves. You are married in a legal marrying state so you can go to any other state including Arizona and they have to honor and respect it.

3. You were married under the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage decision. You are legally married so your marriage license has to be honored in all the other states.

                                                         💝 💘 💏 ✊

The law was just passed by Nancy Pelosi, and Schumer and signed by Pres. Biden is a backup guarantee in case the Supreme goes Trumpie.

It was bipartisan but what did the GOP get for it? They read polls and the polls are 70-76% pro-same-sex marriage. But they get to "Protect" the people of faith. People of faith have always been against others not like them so things have not changed much. Just they are not allowed to beat you and put you on the ground cells.

Drawbacks: More expensive to travel to another state, and more anti-gay problems with the people in which the state is against marriage but has to accept yours.
The all-love religious orgs can discriminate against you at least until we get a better court which will be way in the future with a Dem President who gets the opportunity to nominate Pro-democracy and not adverse to LGBT.
