Make no mistake, San Francisco has increasingly become a playground for the rich where property values are so high that the residents who helped give the city all its character can’t afford to stick around. Despite that, many brilliant queer artists, kinksters and business people still inhabit its neighborhoods. Twice a year, they (and similar folks from around the world) unite for a shamelessly brazen celebration of queer kink and sexuality called the Up Your Alley Fair or just Dore Alley, something which happened yesterday. Written by Daniel Villarreal at Unicorn Booty
The first Up Your Alley Fair started as an AIDS fundraiser in San Francisco’s leather districtin 1985, but it moved to Dore Alley two years later and has remained there to this day.
Let’s enjoy some sights from the Up Your Alley fair!
The crowd was massive, friendly, but bustling. It could take a while to walk from one side of the street to the other.
The fair also invites attendees to try their hand at various kink — like ropes, puppy play and flogging — and some of their assistants and experts are seriously sexy.
Not very different from any other gay event, pride march or bar. A gathering of the Elite, the Fabulous, the Chosen Ones. Don't forget that many, many, out, proud, gay men would never be welcome at such events, we are excluded due to our appearance.
