Tragic news in the sports world as AFL player John McCarthy fell 9m to his death from the roof of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.
Investigators are waiting for the full autopsy report, including toxicology tests, before determining the exact cause of death.
Security staff of the Hotel called and reported that a man had fallen from the roof of the hotel and onto the paved driveway. McCarthy was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead few minutes later.
It is still unclear whether the AFL star committed suicide by jumping off the roof or it is a plain accident. Relatives and friends of the athlete declined for comment.
The circumstances behind the passing of McCarthy remain under investigation but Mr Murphy said the 22-year-old was alone at the time.
"There is nothing that appears to be suspicious in nature, such as there was no interaction in nature between two humans on this roof," he said.
The 22-year-old Port Adelaide player had arrived in Las Vegas on an end-of-season trip less than 24 hours earlier.
"The Coroner's Office is working with the family to return the decedent to his home country and family," read the statement, from the Clark County Corner and Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy is being conducted today. The cause of death may take weeks to determine, pending the results of the autopsy and the return of toxicology and other laboratory reports," the coroner said in a statement.

UPDATE: PORT Adelaide footballer John McCarthy accidentally died after he jumped from a three-storey building toward a palm tree during an end-of-season football trip in Las Vegas.

Stuart Bailey, a Victorian police officer and Western Bulldogs runner who was in Vegas at the time, revealed the details this morning.
Mr Bailey spoke to the Clark County coroner's office today who confirmed McCarthy's accidental death.
The 22-year-old footballer had left the Wynn casino about 4.30am Sunday and walked to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino 4km away.
He took a lift to the fourth floor and walked through an open exit door where he went on to the roof.
"It seems to be at this point in time the evidence suggests he's jumped off the wall (on the roof) to a palm tree," he said.
"He may have been disorientated at how far the fall was, he's slipped and he's fallen to the ground."
McCarthy and a group of Port Adelaide players had arrived in Las Vegas around 5pm on Saturday evening.
At midnight they went to the luxury XS nightclub inside Wynn's casino, the most exclusive hotel in Las Vegas, which costs $70 to enter.
A group of Western Bulldogs players, including Robert Murphy, saw the Port players in the line at XS but decided to go to another venue.
The Port Adelaide players had been drinking heavily.
McCarthy left XS on his own and made his way through back streets to the Flamingo Hotel.
Mr Bailey said there was no CCTV images of McCarthy on the roof but there was footage of him entering the main foyer.
Police in Australia will be taking a statement from McCarthy's girlfriend Dani Smarrelli today.
They will also be checking phone records and text messages sent and received by McCarthy in the hours leading up to his death.

This is the Palm Tree where he Tried to Jump to…Why? Alcohol? Why try to jump from a roof top to a palm tree. At 22 I know I did similar stunts but always there was a reason for it, like I lost the keys and I jumped from the rooftop to the fire escape which connected to my bedroom window and I knew It was ajar. Next day, I after I went over what I done it scared me. I was comming fromn a dance club in the wee hours.  Adam Gonzalez, Admin.
