Long Isl., NY Marine Shot Dead by Afghan Policeman
A Long Island Marine who was killed by an Afghan police officer last week told his devastated father that he was afraid for his life just days before his stunning murder.
Greg Buckley Jr., 21, was scheduled to return home to Oceanside for a surprise family visit this Wednesday before he was fatally shot multiple times by an Afghan cop, his father said yesterday.
"He told me he was scared and that he wanted to come home," said Buckley's sobbing father yesterday. "He told me that these Afghan officers didn't want them there, that he could feel that something was going to happen."

"He turned 21 over there recently," Buckley said. "He told me that he just wanted to get home and to go to the local bar with me and to have his first legal beer. He told me 'Dad, I can't wait.' "
"He wrote us a letter a few months ago," his father said. "He thanked me for being a good father, he thanked his mother, he said he hoped his brothers were proud of him. It's like he knew something was going to happen.
Hundreds of friends and family poured into Buckley's home Saturday. "Everybody loved him," Buckley Sr. said. "He was a good kid, a handsome kid, he just wanted us to be proud of him."
Buckley's family will travel to Delaware Monday to retrieve his body before returning him home to Long Island for a funeral. He was set to be discharged from his tour in mere months, his father said.
"I was against it when he wanted to join up," the trucking business owner said. "But he said he had to do it, that it was his duty, that he wanted us to feel like he did something important."
"I miss my boy," he said. "We all missing him.
