A Bad day in Staten Island } Beat up Then Ran Over by Cop

If you've come to the end of your work day and are thinking "wow, things could not have possibly sucked more than they did today," allow us to put things into perspective for you.

A Staten Island man was rushed to the hospital this morning after he got the crap kicked out of him by two unidentified men. The two suspects then fled -- and the victim was seemingly in the clear. But then he got run over by an off-duty cop.

The beating happened about 2:30 a.m. outside of a Staten Island Ferry terminal on Richmond Terrace. After the assault, the two thugs fled in a cab, leaving the 33-year-old victim beaten in the road.
Then a cop showed up in a black Ford Explorer -- and ran the man over. The officer then called 9-1-1.

The officer, as we mentioned, was off-duty at the time, and it appears that he didn't see the victim lying in the road before he ran him over with the SUV.

The victim was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center in serious but stable condition. The officer was questioned by police.

The two suspects in the beating portion of the victim's day remain on the loose.

So, if the copier jammed, or your boss has been riding your ass all day, keep in mind: at least you didn't get your ass kicked before getting run over by a cop.
