Looks Like Brett Ratner Quits Oscars Over "Fags" Remark

The Hollywood Reporter released a statement from Ratner saying that he is quitting as producer of the Academy Awards:
"I called Tom Sherak this morning and resigned as a producer of the 84th Academy Awards telecast. Being asked to help put on the Oscar show was the proudest moment of my career. But as painful as this may be for me, it would be worse if my association with the show were to be a distraction from the Academy and the high ideals it represents," he stated.
We've known for a long time that gays and Jews run Hollywood, but it looks like one trumped the other today.
Do you think he was given an ultimatum: to resign or get fired?

Apologies for gay slurs seem to happen quicker and quicker, (assumingly) for fear of the
wrath of GLAAD, aka unwanted press and enemies. And Ratner is no exception:
“I apologize for any offense my remarks caused. It was a dumb way of expressing myself. Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words," Ratner told The Wrap.
Also, GLAAD tweeted that they are going to be demanding action from Universal and The Academy as Ratner is a producer on the Oscars.

Could Brett Ratner be even more of a tool than one might already assume? Shorthand answer: Yes! (Details follow)

Straight off the heels (or Crocs or Adidas man-slippers—whatever a d-bag like Ratner likely considers appropriate footwear) of bragging to press that he "banged" Olivia Munn "before she was Asian," another reason to roll your eyes at Tower Heist director Brett Ratner.
According to Vulture:
After a screening of his film Tower Heist at L.A.'s Arclight Cinemas, the director came out for a Q&A, and when asked by the moderator whether he prepares and rehearses with his actors before shooting a scene, Ratner waved his hand dismissively and said, "Rehearsing is for fags."
Considering the reviews for most of Ratner's films have been poor, perhaps he should change his homophobic attitude toward rehearsing! Oh, and any expectations we had for a totally classy Academy Awards (as in zero expectations) as directed by Ratner flew right out the window.
