It’s never too early to start instructing girls on the basics of personal finance.
Rich boys, good. Algebra, bad. Homework… also bad.
Which is why I’m sure you’re devastated that K-Mart has stopped selling this thong from GirlXPress, which (among other things) extols the virtues of both rich boyfriends and skimpy clothes to young girls. You know, family values.
The drama occurred after some customers noticed GirlXPress’ line of thongs at K-Mart had some awkward phrases emblazoned around the crotch-ish area, according to Jezebel. Our personal favorite is the one you see pictured here, which helpfully fills in the gaps in education that Patti Stanger missed.
Okay, big-box retailers sell offensive things all the time. But occasionally, a store will carry something so outrageously, transparently, craptacularly awful that it’s hard to figure out where to start. That is what this is. Is it the thongs-for-girls part that’s the worst? The ambition-quashing slogan? Or maybe it’s combination’s resulting maelstrom of mentalbarf.
Of course, K-Mart defended itself, claiming that the product was targeted at the “female youth market” and not the girls market. Which… yea. Doesn’t really make it better. Especially since (according to the Sydney Morning Herald) a K-Mart spokes person couldn’t provide parameters for what constitutes a “youth” versus a “child.” (And don’t those two words kinda mean the same thing?)
So, female youths (not children!), go forth and find your “rich boy.” K-Mart thinks it’s the totally age-appropriate thing to do.
