'Days of Our Lives Will Horton' Will be Coming Out
Striaght, err, directly off the high heels the landmark decision to feature its first gay couple,Days of Our Lives has gone from zero to 60 by announcing that cherished character Will Horton (Chandler Massey) will begin the coming out process on the show.
Insiders report that though Will's sexuality will become obvious to viewers, the coming out process will take weeks to unfold.
"We are excited to have the encouragement and support from both NBC and Sony to tell the inspiring story of a young man learning who he is as he defines and creates his relationships with others," Co-Executive Producer Greg Ming told Entertainment Weekly.
Massey, who was nominated for an Emmy in 2010 for portraying Will, is excited for the development. “I’m thrilled to be able to portray my character in an empowering way that will show his struggle to accept who he is. It is my hope that this storyline will inspire others to be true to themselves as well.”
The soap, which at one time was the one of the most traditional in the genre, crowned its very first gay character only last summer.
