Brazilian "Ex-Gay" Leader Comes Out } So Called Therapy a "Fraud"
Sergio Viula, founder of Brazilian evangelical ex-gay group Movement for the Healthy Sexuality (MOSES), has hammered what is hopefully one of the final nails into the coffin of the damaging and discredited "ex gay" movement by revealing that "conversion" therapy is nothing but bullshit.
Viula, who married and fathered two children after founding MOSES, spoke with the Flying Tea Pot to expose the dangers "ex gay" therapy poses and more.
"In fact, ex-gays don’t exist—it’s pure self-suggestion," Viula tells FTP. "I started going to church and noticed that homosexuals didn’t know how to deal with their ‘difficulties’, due to lack of orientation by their leaders, so I decided to found the Movement for the Healthy Sexuality (MOSES), with JoĂ£o Luiz Santolin and Liane França. That was when I started saying – at very opportune moments – that I was ex-gay."
Viula went on to explain the process his leading ministry used to give the illusion of conversion.
"It was like the so-called discipleship, which happened to be brainwashing, indeed. You have to get isolated from your former circle of friends, start attend church meetings, go through counseling sessions, pray, fast, and stuff like that. When somebody happened to get involved with another homosexual, he had to confess what he’d done. THAT’S FUCKING CRAZY! Sorry, but even nowadays I feel angry when I remember that."

"Nobody really quit being gay. There were relationships even within the group, between an activity and another, they would always find time for that. Can you figure out how much suffering to myself and to all of those who have already worked or been influenced by this kind of ‘ministry’? That’s enraging! And there are people repeating that stupid discourse until today."
Don't expect Exodus or any of its American ilk to pay Viula's confession any mind.
