Two transsexual passengers denied entry into Egypt
By Dan Littauer Editor, 21.3.11 Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that two post-operative transgender passengers arriving from a flight from Jordan were denied entry to Egypt yesterday (20.3.11). The first, a male-to-female transgender was found to be holding a passport under the name of Ahmed. She explained she underwent a gender reassignment operation six weeks earlier but was not unable to modify her passport information. A 19-year old male passenger registered under the female name of Isra’a was also denied entry. He had undergone a gender reassignment operation but similarly was unable to update his passport. Apparently the incident caused quite a commotion Cario Airport. The passengers were examined by customs officials and their accounts were verified. Nevertheless Egyptian customs authorities banned them from entering Egypt and deported them back to Jordan. http://www.gaymiddleeast.com/news |
