Get Out of Jury Duty and Score Points for Gay Rights!

Everyone, meet Jonathan D. Lovitz
This super-stud is a nerdy history-buff
of a Jewish gay boy living in Hell's Kitchen.
You'll also see him all over your television
in about a month or so on his upcoming
 Logo reality series, "Set-Up Squad."
He also loves The West Wing and
watches it weekly with my boyfriend
 and I at our apartment.

But I'm talking about Jonathan today
because he's also found a way to get
you out of serving jury duty while
 making a legitimate statement to
support the rights of gay people,
 wherever you may live.

I am in full support of this
 "Jury Duty Block" action,
and encourage you all to use it.
For one because it's powerful, and honest. And for two,
 because Jury Duty sucks.

Yes, it may be our "civic duty" to take part in Jury Duty...
but I'm totally cool with obstructing that duty until I am treated
equally with my hetero peers on the bench.

I'll leave the rest of this post to Jon to tell you what he did,
 and what you can do:

"Just had an intense day at jury duty. During voir dire we were
asked who would not be impartial. I raised my hand and said
"since I can't get married or adopt a child in the state of
New York, I can't possibly be an impartial judge of a citizen
when I am considered a second class one in the eyes of this
justice system." You wouldn't believe how people in the
room reacted."

And it worked! Because you canNOT be called for a jury
if you say you cannot be impartial. Instant block!
You're free! (Well, not exactly free, you'll have to

remain in the benches all week... but you can bet
your bonnet that lawyers won't be calling you
 back up for other cases.)

Already Jonathan's stand has grabbed attention.
His Facebook has exploded with messages of congrats,
including from Broadway star Christopher Sieber.

And today in the courtroom, Jon was commended
and supported by fellow jury duty-ers.

Bravo Jon! I'll be doing this next time they call
my ass in. So should the rest of you.
