Elton JohnELTON John isn’t one to cut corners.
According to a new report from Britain’sDaily Mail newspaper, the singer and his husband David Furnish — whoannounced yesterday they had become parents to a baby boy, Zachary, born by a surrogate mother in California on Christmas day — will spent $70,000 on their new addition’s nursery.
Sources say the famous couple have enlisted the help of their friend, shoe designer Patrick Cox, to help them put the finishing touches to the “palatial” room at the their Windsor mansion, Woodside.
They are said to have splashed out thousands of pounds furnishing the room with ‘one-off, tailored furniture items’.
“Elton and David began planning the nursery months ago,” a source said. “They wanted it to be ready for when the baby came home.
“It will be very lavish when it is finished. They like to make big statements.”
Meanwhile, sources close to Elton insist the rocker planning to scale back his career commitments to do everything he can for his son.
“The past year has been leading up to this. Zach is now Sir Elton’s life. This means there is now an heir to his throne, his millions and his legacy,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.
“Anyone who thinks that he won’t pull his weight in changing nappies and getting up in the night is wrong. His new focus is family life with David and their son.”
