Pentagon Will Comply with DADT Court Order

Yesterday the Pentagon announced it will comply with the court order to stop enforcing the “don’t ask, don’t tell” even though the Obama administration has asked a federal judge to delay implementing the ruling.
Armed forces officials have stated they need more time to put new policies in place in order to avoid negatively impacting combat readiness or morale.
The Obama administration has stated it will appeal the ruling but Col. Dave Lapan, a spokesman for the Department of Defense said that in the meantime, “the Department of Defense will of course obey the law,” and the Pentagon will stop all investigations and discharges of service members who are in violation of the policy.
But the Servicemembers Legal Defense Fund is warning service members to not disclose their sexual orientation just yet.
Executive Director Aubrey Sarvis stated:
“It is clear there is confusion, and this interim period is dangerous for service members. Our service members need finality.”
