NJ Rabbi Molesting Teen Boys from Israel

The FBI and Israeli police helped Bergen County authorities arrest and charge a Teaneck rabbi accused of molesting two 13-year-old boys from Israel who were staying at his home. Uzi Rivlin, 63, is being held on $175,000 bail, with a court appearance scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Local authorities were contacted by FBI agents summoned by Israeli police after the boys told them of the alleged incidents, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

“One child reported that his visit was in the summer of 2009 and one child reported that his visit was in summer of 2010,” Molinelli said. “Both children had separately reported the sexual abuse to the Israel Police after they had returned home to Israel.”

The Scholarship Fund for the Advancement of Children in Israel, sponsored by Rivlin and others, brought the boys here, the prosecutor said. One already had an abusive background, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.

Rivlin,
of Congregation Beth Aaron, launched The Scholarship Fund for the Advancement of Children in Israel (Keren Milgot) nearly 15 years ago after reading about a poor family in the southern development town of Kiryat Gat whose two babies had to share one pacifier, Rivlin’s wife, Jenny, once told a reporter.

Since then, hundreds of youngsters have come to stay with host American families and attend a session of Camp Moshava, an Orthodox Zionist camp in Pennsylvania. Rivlin’s young boarders have attended the Torah Academy of Bergen County in Teaneck. One, a foster child, made his bar mitzvah at the Jewish Center of Teaneck while staying at what has become known as "Camp Rivlin."

Rivlin
— who also teaches at Temple Beth Abraham, a reform congregation in Tarrytown, N.Y. has been involved in other charities, as well. Two years ago, he told a reporter from the New Jersey edition of The Jewish Standard that he contributed to a fund that expended about $100,000 a year for food, clothing, school supplies, and furnishings to some 500 Israeli 5- to 18-year-olds in need. At the time, he said, those served numbered close to 1,000.

Many of the children who have stayed at "Camp Rivlin" have

come from troubled or terribly poor homes; some are orphans. Two have attended Yeshiva University, while others have gone to local yeshivas in North Jersey and New York.

Detectives arrested Rivlin today and charged hiim with aggravated criminal sexual contact and child endangerment. Molinelli said that authorities from both countries are trying to    determine whether any other children may have similar reports.

PO Esposito Kills Gay Banker/Defarra Gaymon/ No Charges!

A Month Ago a Grand Jury declined to indict police officer Edward Esposito for any crime

involving his killing of a CEO of a Bank in Atlanta Defarra Gaymon 46. He was in Jersey for a reunion and made a mistake to go to  a park were a homophobe officer was looking for gays.  He killed this decent man who's only crime was to be gay, be in the closet and maybe was looking for someone to hook up. I guess That most've been a capital crime on this officer's mind. Some interesting facts have come out on the part of the officer. It seems he was only arresting gays in cases that were never prosecuted, dismissed when the defendant pleaded not guilty or the defendant pleaded guilty to a small crime without fighting it...and we know why that happens with closeted gay guys...that is why they are seem as easy target by some cops in certain areas of the country. You can find more past information on this case by doing a search right from this blog entering Defarra Gaymon.

Unfortunately The last evidence available to me is as of July 2011. I have followed this case for a year now and anything that I can find out that comes up I will publish. I think is a mistake to let cases like this just get filed away and forgotten, like if Mr. Defarra died of Natural causes and nobody was responsible. There is someone out there, someone who by his own actions if not words does not like gays- someone with a shield and a gun still walking the beat.
The Sheriff’s Office released records on 167 arrests or investigations in 14 parks, with 148 of those arrests or investigations occurring in Branch Brook Park or South Mountain Reservation, which is located in West Orange, Maplewood, and Millburn. Of those 148, 130 were arrests for lewdness or criminal sexual contact of men who may have been cruising for sex or, in some cases, were observed having sex with other men.
These are in regards to Esposito and how he was conducting his search and arrest of gay men (source Gay city News):

A consistent theme in the 130 reports by plainclothes officers involved in what were clearly organized stings was that they were walking through a park when a man, without any prompting from the officer, exposed himself or grabbed the officer’s crotch.

In a 2005 complaint concerning an arrest in South Mountain Reservation, the officer wrote that the suspect “approached the undersigned and engaged in small conversation. The suspect then grabbed the undersigned’s crotch area, then began to walk away stating to undersigned ‘Come On.’”

A 2007 record on an arrest in that park reads, “Then with out warning or saying a single word, [the defendant] leaned back and grabbed the undersigned groin area, causing pain and discomfort.”

A report on a 2010 arrest in Branch Brook Park states the defendant “stopped in front of me less than a foot away (facing me). [The defendant] asked ‘Do you have a big dick?’ As [the defendant] was speaking he grabbed my penis with his right hand and squeezed it.”

A 2007 report on a arrest in Branch Brook Park has the defendant asking in Spanish, “Do You Want Me To Suck Your Dick?,” and continues, “At the time Detective advised him that he was not into that. The suspect then grabbed Detective hand and asked him to walk with him. Detective pulled his hand back, and the suspect then became aggressive by grabbing for the crotch area of Detective causing Detective to jump back.”

To believe these assertions, one would have to believe that nearly every time a man made an unwelcome advance by exposing himself or groping another man in these two parks, that man just happened to do it in front of or to a plainclothes officer. That is unlikely at best, and that same issue arose in a 2004 lewdness arrest of a gay man in the New Jersey section of the Palisades Interstate Park, which is not patrolled by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

The following report is from the NYTimes posted by   and

A grand jury in Essex County, N.J., has declined to bring criminal charges against a police officer who fatally shot an unarmed banking executive from Atlanta last July during a confrontation in a park.

The banker, Defarra Gaymon, 48, had been in the state for an alumni reunion for his class at Montclair High School. The officer, Edward Esposito, 30, now a nine-year veteran of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, was patrolling under cover in Branch Brook Park in Newark.
Around 6 p.m. on July 16, after chasing down a man and arresting him, Officer Esposito realized he had dropped his handcuffs in the woods and went to retrieve them, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said. The account of what followed came solely from Officer Esposito.
“We made an effort to find out if there was anyone who saw the events in the park,” said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office. “No witnesses ever came forward to say they saw all, or a portion, of the encounter.”
Ms. Carter declined to comment on what evidence was presented to the grand jury, which decided on Friday not to indict the officer. The acting Essex County prosecutor, Carolyn A. Murray, told the Gaymon family late Monday, Ms. Carter said.
The family is suing Officer Esposito and the sheriff’s office in State Superior Court in Essex County. Christopher W. Kinum, a lawyer for the Gaymons, said, “We don’t feel like we got a legitimate investigation out of the prosecutor’s office.”
Charles J. Sciarra, a lawyer for the officer, said his client had testified voluntarily before the grand jury. “There was never a doubt that the use of force was an absolute last resort and justified in all aspects,” Mr. Sciarra said.
Officer Esposito has said he was bending down to pick up his handcuffs when he was approached by Mr. Gaymon, who was “engaged in a sexual act,” the prosecutor’s office said. When Officer Esposito tried to arrest him, “Mr. Gaymon appeared to panic, assaulted the police officer and fled,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The officer cornered him near a pond. Mr. Gaymon threatened to kill the officer, “then lunged at and attempted to disarm the officer while reaching into his own pocket,” the prosecutor’s office said the officer had reported. Officer Esposito, “fearing for his life,” fired once.
The descriptions of uncharacteristically violent behavior by Mr. Gaymon shocked his friends and family, and his employees at the Credit Union of Atlanta, where he was the chief executive.
“Defarra Gaymon was a peaceful and successful man who was shot and killed while unarmed in broad daylight in Branch Brook Park,” Mr. Kinum said. “His wife, parents and four young children miss him immensely.”
He said the family “will not rest until the truth comes out and we establish that the undercover operation and the killing were completely unjustified.”
The park is a longtime spot for men seeking anonymous sex, and has been the site of many police sting operations. Lawyers for men arrested there say the officers can be overly aggressive in how they approach suspects.
A gay-rights group that has criticized the sheriff’s office’s conduct, Garden State Equality, called on Tuesday for a federal civil rights investigation.
“Under the law, a federal civil rights investigation becomes possible when the grand jury phase is complete,” said Steven Goldstein, the organization’s chairman. “Garden State Equality will work with county authorities on preserving quality of life in the parks that do not rely on undercover patrols. That system has proven ineffective and puts civil rights at risk.”
Mr. Sciarra, the officer’s lawyer, said he believed that the grand jury’s decision should put the matter to rest.
“Our respects remain with Mr. Gaymon’s family,” he said. “However, while we do not expect an apology from the special interests that made horrendous accusations without any facts, decency calls for their silence in light of the grand jury’s decision.”
Mr. Gaymon’s widow, Melanie Gaymon, declined to comment.

A Teen With Guts: Yells At Marcus Bachmann“You can’t pray the gay away,”

Gabe Aderhold said before heckling Michele Bachmann at today’s Iowa State Fair that his mission was to help educate the representative about how harmful her rhetoric against gay and lesbians is to her constituents.
Aderhold, 17, is gay and said part of his reasons for speaking publicly is to bring awareness to gay issues after the death of a family friend – a 15-year-old gay boy who lived in Bachmann’s district and who committed suicide in 2009 after being bullied.
“It is her responsibility to address social issues in her area, and there have been six suicides in the last year from being bullied in her district,” Aderhold said to The Des Moines Register prior to heckling Michele Bachmann today at the Iowa State Fair.
His interview with The Register was interrupted by Caleb Humphrey, an Eldora resident and Army veteran of the Iraq war who disapproved of his actions.
“Here, I’ll tell you this,” Humphrey said to Aderhold. “You’re not going to have too much fun being gay when you ain’t got no money.”
This is the sign that Aderhold made for Palwenty's talk at The Des Moines Register soapbox. (The Register.)
Bachmann spoke for three minutes at the soapbox today.  After she stopped, Aderhold stood up and shouted: “You treat me like a second-class citizen,” before chanting. “Shame on you.”
Bachmann’s husband, Marcus, operates a mental-health clinic in Lake Elmo,Minn. He has faced scrutiny for the clinic’s purported efforts to help clients “pray the gay away.”
Marcus Bachmann told the Minneapolis Star Tribune last month that his clinic has Christian counselors who work with clients who ask for help battling same-sex attractions but said it’s not the focus of the business.
As a state senator Michele Bachmann also led aggressive efforts to amend the state’s constitution to prohibit same-sex couples from marrying.
Aderhold mentioned Bachmann’s senate efforts while shouting. He also took issue with the praying techniques.
“You can’t pray the gay away,” he screamed at Marcus Bachmann, who turned away and did not respond.
Some members of the audience told Aderhold that he was out of line.  Ryan Rhodes, organizer of the Iowa Tea Party, told him to “go back to Minneapolis.”
Bachmann, who said she was going to shake hands with people in the audience, quickly left the area.

Perry In Hot Water With Republican Elite Over Crazy Comments On Federal Reserve Chairman

Rick Perry’s attack on Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke – calling the country’s central banker “almost treasonous” for adopting quantitative easing policy – has drawn a sharp round of rebukes from former Bush administration officials, starting with known Perry skeptic Karl Rove.
Rove blasted on Fox News (via GOP12):
“It's his first time on the national stage, and it was a very unfortunate comment. You don't accuse the chairman of the federal reserve of being a traitor to his country and being guilty of treason and suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas — that's not, again, a presidential statement … Governor Perry is going to have to fight the impression that he's a cowboy from Texas. This simply added to it.”
Former Bush White House official Pete Wehner wrote in Commentary:
People shouldn’t throw around the words “almost treasonous” loosely; and certainly a person running for president shouldn’t do such a thing. To say someone is treasonous means he is a traitor to his country. In the long catalogue of crimes an individual can commit, there are not many that are worse than treason … [W]hat the Texas governor said about the Federal Reserve chairman is the kind of blustering, unthinking comment that Perry’s critics expect of him. Why he would play to stereotype is hard to fathom. Or, perhaps he’s simply being himself. We’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime Perry ought to offer a retraction and apology — and then offer a serious intellectual critique of why he believes Ben Bernanke is pursuing injurious policies.
And former White House and Treasury Department spokesman Tony Fratto tweeted: “Gov. Perry's comments about Chmn. Bernanke are inappropriate and unpresidential.”
Attacking the Fed chairman probably won’t do Perry much harm with the GOP primary-voting man on the street, but it won’t do him any favors, either, with a national conservative elite that’s deeply skeptical of him as a potential president.

Sean Hayes Gets Part On NBC Comedy Playing A Gay Man

 by    http://insidetv.ew.com

Sean Hayes’ return to TV just took another big step forward. The project is near a deal to signRescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan and his writer partner Michael Wimer — and wait until you hear what it’s about.
Tolan will serve as a writer and executive producer on the show, which will be produced by Universal Media Studios and Sony Pictures TV. EW has also learned the mysterious project’s logline: The untitled family comedy follows two men tasked with raising a 12 year old. If that broadcast sitcom concept sounds familiar, it’s because you haven’t heard the twist yet: The two dads are a gay couple.
Though the Sean Hayes comedy is still in the development stage, getting the former Will & Grace star back in front of the camera is clearly a priority for the network’s new programming chief Robert Greenblatt, who announced the project at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this month.
Though gay portrayals on TV have made significant strides in recent years, especially thanks to ensemble shows Fox’s Glee and ABC’s Modern Family, a show centered around a gay couple would be unique in the current broadcast TV landscape.
Tolan may be best known in recent years for the edgy Rescue Me, which is ending its seven-season run, but he has plenty of  comedy experience. He has worked on The Larry Sanders Show and Murphy Brown, as well as penned films like Analyze This and Bedazzled.

First Look at the Grey's Anatomy Season Premiere- It Comes Back w/PUNCH

  by   http://www.eonline.com/
Wow. When Grey's Anatomy comes back, it comes back hard.
More from Watch with Kristin
It's only a 30-second preview, but damn does the new Grey's promo reveal a lot! In fact, if you really hate spoilers...Do not watch the video. Just the first five seconds will ruin a big plot point for the season premiere.
What else is going down? First of all, the tagline for the video is "There's no going back." Karev (Justin Chambers) seems to be getting bitch-slapped by Cristina (Sandra Oh), and someone frantically interrupts a surgery. Plus, Cristina tells us exactly how she feels about the whole baby situation. Finally, we end with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) looking completely lost. But at least she's not wandering the halls alone. Oh, and there's sexy time. Of course.

Vatican offers chance to confess abortion and rejoin church-only on 1 day

Hundreds of thousands of young people descending on Madrid this week for the Catholic church's World Youth Day – which features processions, group prayers and a mass with Pope Benedict XVI – are to get a "special" concession.
Church leaders have ordered that anyone confessing, during this event, to having had an abortion – a sin punishable by excommunication – will be welcomed back into the church.
"Normally, only certain priests have the power to lift such an excommunication, but the local diocese has decided to give all the priests taking confession at the event this power," said the pope's spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi.
Two hundred white wooden confession booths have been set up in Madrid's Buen Retiro park for the event, which started on Tuesday and runs until Sunday.
At a time when church attendances in Europe are dipping Lombardi denied the deal on abortion had been dreamed up to attract waverers back to the church. "With so many young people attending there may be those who have had problems of this kind and it makes sense to reach out to them."
The driving force behind the deal is the archbishop of Madrid, Antonio María Rouco Varela, who persuaded the Vatican to offer women who had had abortions access to "the fruits of divine grace that will open the doors to a new life".
After his popemobile ride through Madrid on Thursday, the pontiff will sit in one of the booths Saturday morning to hear confessions from three visitors, before holding a mass for up to 6,000 seminarians.
The pope's visit throws into relief the divisions between old Catholic and new liberal Spain. About 140 organisations, including Indignados (a mainly youth protest movement against Spain's government), dissident priests, secular groups and gay rights groups, are expected to demonstrate in their tens of thousands against the papal visit, on both political and economic grounds, as the country experiences an austerity drive.
In offering to lift the threat of excommunication for women who have had abortions, the Vatican is treading sensitive ground. Abortion is a delicate issue in Spain, but with 112,000 legal abortions performed in 2009, it is clearly a choice many Spanish women are prepared to make. A new law came into force last year giving the right to abortion up to 14 weeks' term.
Another issue the pope is expected to speak out against is same-sex marriage, which became legal in Spain in 2005. However, on this issue as well, public opinion is more liberal than the rest of Europe, with 5.7 in 10 in favour, compared with an EU average of 4.2.
On the other hand, about 1.5 million pilgrims will descend on the Madrid during the World Youth Day celebrations.
Pope Benedict last took confession from the public at an event for young people held at St Peter's in Rome in 2008.
Young Catholics making the trip to the Spanish capital will also gain a plenary indulgence – effectively a reduction in the time believers spend in purgatory after confessing and being absolved of their sins. These concessions were once sold by priests, but now the indulgences are granted on special occasions.
Lombardi said he was not concerned at reports of protests over the estimated €60m (£52m) cost of the papal visit. "It is normal that people with objections should demonstrate. As long as they don't impede an event which will give great joy to a larger number of young people."

Homophobic Readers of Homophobic Paper The Post-Rip Apart A Dead Woman, she was lesbian

NYPost2.png
Last night, we did a double take when the New York Post briefly ran a headline describing Bronx born lesbian activist Christina Santiago (who was tragically killed at the Indiana State Fair last weekend when the concert stage collapsed) as a bride to be.

The Post has had little positive or even neutral to say about same-sex marriage, and we were further surprised to see them write about Santiago's plan to marry her partner without snark. They even managed to refer to Alisha Brennon, also critically injured, as her "fiancée" in a subsequent article, despite the fact that marriage would have been available to them in Santiago's native New York, but not in Chicago where they resided.
But we were not, sadly, surprised to see several of the Post's homophobic readers' comments in the wake of the tragedy.
There was this gem:
NYPost1.png

And also this:
NYPost3.png

And finally, this about her work at the Howard Brown Health Center:
NYPOST 4.png

We are no strangers to rough reader comments and don't think a publication should be judged solely by its worst comments from its most vitriolic readers. But even we have covered the most liberal of bloggers (see Joe My God on "All faggots must die") reining things in with authorities sometimes.
And even we, longtime readers and critics of the Post, were pretty shocked by what their readers had to say about this lesbian Latina activist, just days after her death, while the bride she will never get to marry is still fighting for her life.
