Father of Pay Pal Backer of Trump, Gave Chance to JD But disappointed Got Out,Still JD Trying to Get $ Tiel

Peter Tiel. He upset so many who had the highest regard for him and his ideas of nondiscrimination and government interference when he went for The Donald. As many of us learn including him, this President was everything none of us wanted and his promises meant nothing. Peter Teal was so disappointed he vowed to get out of politics altogether. But he did get JD Vance's candidacy going for the Senate of which he would have never been able to get enough money to run and win. But one billionaire who obviously could not personally know him well, put him in the political orbit causing all the disruptions he has caused. Now he has got a shot for the vice presidency and maybe presidency, a long, long, long shot but a shot nonetheless. And What can Mr. Teal or anybody expect from this past drag queen? Nobody knows including JD Vance.

The libertarian PayPal founder was once a Trump supporter and made J. D. Vance's political career possible. But will the man with deep pockets – who has since turned his back on politics – heed Vance's calls?

«He's fundamentally a conservative guy, and I think he needs to get off the sidelines and support the ticket,» J. D. Vance, Donald Trump's running mate in his presidential campaign, said in an interview with the Financial Times last Thursday about PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel. The billionaire should finance the Republican presidential election campaign, in other words.

This request is no coincidence. In 2016, Thiel supported Donald Trump's election campaign to the tune of more than $1 million. He was also actively involved in the election campaign and appeared as a speaker at the Republican National Convention, for example. After Trump's victory, he was part of the transition team that prepared for his presidency.

He also financed Vance's candidacy for the U.S. Senate in 2022 with a good $15 million – the largest amount ever donated to a single Senate candidate. The two men have known each other for years. Before entering politics, Vance worked in venture capital – for Thiel, among others. Vance described Thiel as his mentor a few years ago, and in 2019 Thiel supported the venture capital firm Narya Capital, which Vance co-founded.

Donald Trump was not disruptive enough for him

But Thiel has had enough of American politics. At the end of last year, he declared that he no longer wanted to give money to Republican politicians, including Trump. He was disappointed by his presidency. Supporting Trump was «crazier» and «more dangerous» than he thought, he told the American magazine The Atlantic last year.

Thiel, a staunch libertarian, realized that the Trump administration did not share his ideals. He had thought that it would take someone like Trump to tear everything down in order to bring America a new beginning, he explained. But he overestimated Trump's abilities. In an interview with the NZZ in 2019, he said that the then-president did not act disruptively enough for him.

Tech entrepreneur with libertarian views

Thiel, who was born in West Germany in 1967, is considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley. In 1998, he founded the payment service PayPal together with Max Levchin and sold it to eBay for $1.2 billion in 2002. In 2004, Thiel founded Palantir, a data mining company that makes software that is used by the U.S. government for intelligence gathering and police surveillance. At the same time, he made one of his most daring, but also most successful investments – he invested $500,000 to help found Facebook, later selling his shares for $1 billion.

Today, his fortune is estimated at a good $9 billion. However, Thiel became known not only for his investments but also for his political views. In 2009, he wrote a manifesto in which he spoke out against democratic elections and instead called for the creation of politically free spaces in which governments cannot exert any influence on people. In the 2010s, he therefore invested a lot of money in a project that aimed to set up libertarian «micro-states» on platforms in international waters.

He has since abandoned such plans. Instead, Thiel is now investing in cryptocurrencies in the hope of promoting a new kind of money outside the sphere of influence of the state. He also rescued Elon Musk's space travel company SpaceX when it was facing financial difficulties. Thiel is also very interested in longevity projects that attempt to halt human aging. In his opinion, describing death as a law of nature is just an excuse that prevents people from making an effort to conquer it.
