If Gays are Born Why Don't we. See Gay Kids, They are Among Us

There are two flawed, underlying assertions to this question. It implies that if a child doesn’t act gay, then they must not be gay. And, it also implies that a child can — later in life — make a “choice” as to their sexual orientation. This doesn’t even rise to the level of a “theory”.

  • The exact cause of our sexual orientation is unknown, but scientists theorize it’s caused “by a complex interplay of genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences.” But, it’s not a choice someone makes as if they’re picking out a shirt to wear.

But getting back to the question of childhood homosexuality. Gay kids don’t act overtly on their sexual orientation for several reasons.

For most gay kids, they know from an early age they are different from their peers. And, they struggle with that difference as they work to understand their place in the world.

As they grow older and understand more about themselves, society quickly communicates to them that sharing who they are will get them bullied, mocked, or otherwise harmed.

And for those who do show that they are gay?

I would recommend that we discuss this with Nigel Shelby. But, Nigel died by suicide at age 15 in April 2019.

He was gay and he was brutally harassed and bullied because of his sexual orientation. When he sought help from school administrators, they did nothing.

Can’t imagine why a kid would be reluctant to reveal his sexual orientation, can you?

In memory of Nigel Shelby.
