You've been communicating with a romance scammer. Here's how we know:

  • Your new online friend told you he's in the U.S. Army. This is one of the top 3 false personas used by romance scammers. The other two are Off-shore Oil Rig Engineer and U.N. Surgeons.
  • He told you he's in Syria. These days, most romance scammers who claim to be in the U.S. Army tell their victims that they're in Syria.
  • He told you he's a single father with one daughter. This is one of the most common deceptions perpetrated by romance scammers.
  • He told you his parents died in a car accident. This is yet another one of the most common lies they tell.

You should block him from all means of communication and move on with your life.

I don't regard amorous scamming as a matter of money but the damage that is done to those that can least afford it otherwise one could say if you are stupid enough pay up but is more than that and losing $25 or maybe $10 (5 yrs for me is an eternity) to this guy up there over 5 yrs ago to losing ones 401K or SS check is no laughing matter. I sent this a*hole an apple game card. I'm sure he got $5-10. dollars for it and the card could not be refused. You know he came back for more but I felt like such an idiot that I make sure I got educated on this. They were born on Facebook, thanks to META or Facebook before META. If you turn in too many of these guys guess who is going to get suspended? The advice above of block him and move on. Unless you are me.
