Homophobia Can Be Deadly } Ravi Knows It Now

It was a split verdict after 11 hours of deliberations:   Ravi faces 10 yrs in jail and deportation

Dharun Ravi, right, is accused of using his webcam to spy on his college roommate, Tyler Clementi, left, during an intimate encounter. Clementi later committed suicide. >Since summer of 2010 this case has been in the NJ judicial system. Here we have a young man,   a  good student, musician a quiet young man not any trouble maker.  The only thing different with him and any other young man with the same qualities was his sexual orientation.  In other words what he does in his bed. This was Tyler Clementi.

Then you have another young good student from India enjoying the freedom’s  and education in this country, (which so many criticize, but so many come here to learn) and opportunities.  He seems to not like gays. He said he was “uncomfortable” with Tyler.  Why should he feel uncomfortable? There was never any allegation that Tyler Clementi made any advances towards this young man (Ravi).  Still Ravi felt uncomfortable that someone’s else’s orientation  (meaning to whom he is attracted to) would be different than his.  Unless we latter find out that Ravi is a closeted homosexual, which most gay people know that these are the ones that do the most damage to gays, because they are so damaged themselves.

Any fair minded person that see those facts most tell themselves that there was no reason for Ravi to feel the way he felt towards Tyler.  That is until you ad a component that many of us call “Homophobia”
The fear of someone who happens to have sex with his own kind.  Another adjective would be “bigot”.

I am told that there still people that do not know about "gays” which in this day and age day  I find hard to affirm.  I prefer bigot my self because is more general.  That is the individual who does not like anyone that is not just like him. That could be about sexual orientation but it also applies to nationality, color of skin and so on.

In order for a human being to be able to cope with the world we live in,  is to have some sense of being social.  That means being able to communicate in any manner to another human being, no matter how different that other human being would be from him/her.  That is the way is supposed to be.

Now,  in the middle of those two ends we have people’s religion that make differences between human beings like, religious, non  religious, save, unsaved, supposed to do this but not that or is eternal DEATH (They always talk about death) Then besides religions you have different politics, different habits, customs.  What people do to preserve their believes' is to form clans, neighborhoods, clubs and so on.  That’s because most people are different and even identical twins are not identical.    But one most ask of themselves what went wrong here?  Tyler lives his life, minding his own business, a quiet guy with his own boyfriend.

Simply put,  in Ravi you have a homophobe.  Ravi not liking Clementi and believing that Clementi was less than him;  He could not be an equal because he never picked a straight person to do this.  One of the component of activist homophobes/ bigots is to imagine that the gay person is less than themselves.

People that can accommodate being a bigot or a homophobe have to see the gay person as less than human.  Because someone who is less than a person, well you can do things and get away with, You can do bad things that would have awful consequences and is kind of ok.

Ravi put a monitor for everyone to see outside.  So it was not just between Clementi and Ravi.  Ravi brought in the outside world to take a look in the most intimates moments a human being can have with another, to the point that Tyler must’ve been humiliated and not abled to survive in his world. These actions could not be undone now. The bell did ring now it’s done, no way to go back.

I think the verdict was fair because now another signal is sent out. If you abuse someone because they are different than you, you will pay!   It would be now for the socio-scientists to figure out why Ravi felt the way he felt.  Was it because of his family back ground, religion, friends at school?  I will be paying attention to what they say about causes. But you know what?  I might not know how Ravi felt, but I kind know how Tyler Clemeti felt, because I am gay.

No one outed me, but I knew it was comning…so I outed myself. At least I picked the moment and the person to tell. In the environment that Tyler lived, he never had a chance.

Ravi did not use his physical human hand to push Clementi out of GWB but he had a hand in it.  Now he pays with 10 years and deportation out of this country.

I hope activists homophobes and bigots are listening everywhere:  In todays society in countries that no longer use a hole in the soil to do their excrements, in these countries and in this United Stated you can not be tolerated if you damage another human being because they are not like you.
