Today we lost a true visionary. News of Steve Jobs's death spread like Internet wildfire earlier this evening and with it, a collective outpouring of grief and gratitude from the many, many people touched by his genius, ideas, innovation, products, and inspiring life. It's not out of the question to ask, "What would life be without Steve Jobs?" Luckily, we don't have to answer that question — his countless contributions to the tech world are evident every minute of every day, no matter where you live or what you do.
My iPhone is my alarm clock, my music provider, and my camera. My MacBook Pro is my work lifeline. My iPod shuffle is my gym motivation. My iPad is my nightly entertainment. You get it. But even more than that, I am reminded of Jobs even without the gadgets. From the iconic Apple cube on Fifth Avenue to the colorful iPod pasteups on every street corner, it's hard to ever really get away from Jobs's contributions and inventions. These physical reminders mark our urban landscape with permanent evidence that "Steve Jobs was here." And I am so glad he was.
