Former Gov. Sarah Palin told Greta VanSusteren on Wednesday that she decided to end the whole will-she-wouldn’t-she game and announce her decision not to seek the Republican presidential nomination in the format that she did after watching New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s seemingly never-ending press conference announcing he wasn’t getting in the race.
“That was his seven millionth ‘no’ and I didn’t want to go through all of that, I just wanted to put the marker down and say ‘no, I’m not running,’ not have a big press conference about it, not make a whole big darn deal about it because this isn’t about me, this isn’t about Chris Christie,” Palin said.
Palin also seemed to indicate that she had heard from other presidential candidate still in the race after her announcement. She said she wasn’t surprised that Herman Cain is surging in the polls because he was a businessman and not a politician.
Referencing the killing of Osama bin Laden, Palin said that President Barack Obama had “a couple of successes there thanks to our Navy Seals,” but said that he had failed overall, giving him an “F” in terms of economic success. Palin said that Obama’s strength is that he will have about 90 percent of the media “in his back pocket” going into 2012.
