The Anti gay hate Church announces protest of Steve Jobs’ funeral
Topeka - Westboro Baptist Church, best known for their anti-gay message shared at the funeral's of fallen American soldiers, took to Twitter last night to announce they will be picketing the funeral of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Margie Phelps, daughter of Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps, responded to the news that Steve Jobs had lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, by sending out a message to her Twitter followers that read: "Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin."
Critics responded to Phelps' Twitter remarks by pointing out the irony of Phelps using 'Twitter for iPhone' to spread her message. Jobs was the mastermind behind the creation of Apple's iPhone.
Phelps, who represented the church in the Supreme Court battle over the group's First Amendment right to protest at military funerals, replied to these comments by saying, "Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell. God created iPhone for that purpose."
Shirley Phelps-Roper joined in the Twitter debate that has pushed the WBC into the top trending topics by saying, "Steve Jobs did NOT create anything. God used Steve Jobs to create amazing stuff for WBC to preach like a mug! Jobs vainly imagined He did it!"
Phelps-Roper called Jobs "one of the giants of the doomed US," and said he is responsible for Apple being one of the top rated gay-friendly companies in the country.
The WBC has not yet issued a press release with a schedule for picketing the funeral of Steve Jobs. An official statement is expected once the funeral arrangements have been announced.
