The following is an TMZ report:
Former “Biggest Loser” contender Sam Poueu remains in critical condition after falling several stories from a building Saturday in San Francisco.
Poueu, 25, is conscious in a San Francisco hospital. He is being treated for a pelvic injury, torn ligaments, a punctured lung and a broken leg sustained from the accident, according to a TMZ report.
The cause of the fall is unknown.
“Sam Poueu is a beloved member of our “Biggest Family” family and we are keeping him and his family in our thoughts and prayers,” a rep from the NBC show said in a statement to People magazine.
Fellow Season 9-contestant Ashley Johnston has also been regularly updating “Loser” fans on her cast mate’s condition via Facebook.
“Sam Poueu is making great improvements everyday! He is still in critical condition, but your prayers are being heard so please keep them coming! God is listening and Sam is fighting!” Johnston wrote in her most recent post.
A fundraiser collecting donations for Poueu’s family was held last night in Santa Rosa, Calif., and a Facebook page dedicated to the fan favorite continues to draw dozens of comments from fans offering their sympathy.
The reality star, who lost 142 pounds on the hit show, is engaged to fellow Season 9 cast mate Stephanie Anderson, whom he first met at the “Biggest Loser” ranch in 2009.
Anderson was unavailable for comment.
The successful weight-loss competition show is in its 12th season on NBC and has spawned a variety of video games, books and workout plans. The show has also boosted the profile of several athletic trainers and personalities who have appeared on the show, including Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper and Ali Sweeney.
