Matchmaker Patti Stanger Goes After Gays, Single Women, Jews
"Millionaire Matchmaker" Patti Stanger has come under fire for controversial comments.
Gays, Jews, and smart single women, take note: The “Millionaire Matchmaker” might have a problem with you.
On Sunday, Patti Stanger, the host of Bravo’s “Millionaire Matchmaker” and the self-proclaimed love and marriage guru, questioned the values of Jewish and gay men.
Appearing on Bravo’s call in show ”Watch What Happens Live,” Stanger talked about open long distance relationships and monogamy, saying “In the gay world, it will always be open. … There is no curbing the gay man.” She then turned to host Andy Cohen, who is openly gay, and said, “I have tried to curb ‘you people.’” When Cohen replied, “I am a gay and am down for the monogamy,” Stanger laughed and shot back, “When was the last time you had a boyfriend?”
She also proclaimed, “Jewish men lie.”
Late last week, the 50-year-old “third generation matchmaker” laid into the women of New York for being too brainy.
“Women are smart in business and dumb in love,” Stanger told the hosts of the TV show “New York Live,” regarding New York’s single females. “They won’t date outside their zip code, let alone outside the city. They are city snobs. Real men that are making money in this economy are buying homes in short sales and foreclosures out in the suburbs, getting their homestead set up for their families, and [women say] ‘I won’t go to Connecticut.’ This is where the men are.”
She went on to suggest that New York women — actually, women the world over — ought to avoid multisyllabic words and mention of their SAT scores before walking down the aisle.
“They don’t like them before they are married,” she said, referring to how men feel about smart women. “You’ve got to dumb it down a little because men are not that bright.”
Given her recent comments, perhaps Stanger’s not that bright.
