Happy 100th birthday to Lucille Ball

It was 100 years ago today that Lucille Desiree Ball was born in Jamestown, New York.
She was not an overnight star but eventually became a fixture in films before she went on to define the modern sitcom with I Love Lucyand paved the way for every female comedy legend that followed — from Mary Tyler Moore to Roseanne to Tina Fey.
But with her rubbery face, exquisite timing and expert pratfalls, there’s no one else like Lucy and there never will be. That’s why such a fuss is being made over the 100th anniversary of her birth.
I thought it would be fun to share some video clips and photos today starting with part of an I Love Lucy episode where Lucy thinks everyone has forgotten her birthday.
