O'Donnell unhappy with 'Glee' character
Rosie O'Donnell has complained about Glee character Lauren Zizes.
Lauren, played by Ashley Fink, has had a more prominent role in recent episodes but O'Donnell admitted that she is unhappy about the portrayal of larger women through the character.
"It really, really strikes a chord with every overweight woman I know," she told Access Hollywood. "Every woman I know who's heavy has strong feelings about that storyline."
She continued: "That character is so unlikable. Why didn't they get a pretty heavy girl? They should've gotten someone beautiful like Brooke Elliot. I'm like, 'Every story deserves to be told. And the way that you're relating to it means that it's doing its job. It's evoking a lot of emotion inside of you'."
O'Donnell also complained about Lauren's recent performance of 'I Know What Boys Like', saying: "I just was like, 'Where's the Susan Boyle moment? She's going to belt it out of the park!' and then she did, 'I know what boys like, I know what guys want'? I was like, 'I want more than this'."
However, O'Donnell added that she trusts the show's executive producers to treat the character well in future episodes.
"I know that [Lauren] is going to have a voice and I know maybe Puck's going to break her heart, or she's going to break Puck's heart," she said. "Something's going to happen and she's going to come out and sing something like, 'I Am What I Am'."
