UK Gay News: Evicted couple who terrorised gay neighbours move – to another house in same street
A couple who were evicted after threatening to bomb their gay neighbours have moved back into the very street they were removed from.
According to the Manchester Evening News, James Saunders, 36, and Diane Halliwell, 42, were evicted from their rented terrace home on Windsor Road, Harpurhey, in November – at a cost of £10,000 to the local housing association Adactus.
The move came after claims they threatened to petrol-bomb a young gay couple who lived nearby, which was just one of fifty offences recorded in a six-month period.
Now, despite the victims testifying against them during a hearing at Manchester Civil Justice Centre, the anti-gay pair have re-settled back into the same street to the dismay of residents.
According to the MEN, they pair are renting from a private landlord – not the housing association which removed them.
A spokesman for Adactus said: “We are extremely disappointed that Mr Saunders has moved in with his friend at no 48 Windsor Rd, particularly after the action we took to protect local residents from the unpleasant behaviour.
"However, as Saunders has not modified his behaviour in any way and continues to cause a nuisance, the landlady of the property has decided to take eviction proceedings against the tenant. We hope that this issue will be resolved soon and peace and quiet can once again return to Windsor Road.”
