Flag Burned, LGBT Center Unveils Bigger Flag
By Julie BolcerOn the morning of April 14, the torched flag was discovered outside the center. Surveillance footage indicates that the perpetrator, who remains unidentified, brought the damaged flag to the building around 12:30 a.m. and left it there. The incident is being investigated by NYPD as a hate crime.
Watch videos below of the new flag’s unveiling. Speakers included New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who represents the West Village district, and Glennda Testone, executive director of the LGBT Center. The Youth Pride Chorus performed.
